Newtown Athletic Club Temporarily Closes Amid COVID-19 Outbreak

Newtown Athletic ClubNEWTOWN, PA - Governor Wolf has publicly recommended the closure of all gyms in Bucks County for the next two weeks due to the coronavirus. We have made the decision to comply with these recommendations and will close for the suggested 2 weeks. Since this closure was not mandated but recommended, we struggled with our social and civic responsibility. Do we remain open to serve our community when they need us most, or do we err on the side of extreme caution? Even though we passionately believe that exercise and good nutrition offer the best protection against this virus and a great many illnesses, both chronic and acute, we are taking this measure to insure that no stone is left unturned in this critical situation. We plan to utilize the time we are closed well by continuing to work making improvements and upgrades to the club. Read More...

HealthQuest PuppiesFLEMINGTON, N.J. - HealthQuest hosted a Pool “Pawty” at the club’s Swim Club on Saturday, September 30th in support of the charity, Puppies Behind Bars. Over fifty dogs of many different breeds enjoyed a swim in the pool and company of one another during this afternoon event. It’s the first time HealthQuest hosted an outdoor swim for dogs, and it marked a successful close to the Swim Club season. Jim Worthington and Senator Ron JohnsonNEWTOWN, PA - On May 22, 2018, the Right to Try Bill was passed by the House of Representatives in Washington, DC. This bill was first passed in the Senate (S 204) in August 2017. It finally passed the House and will now proceed to the President’s desk for signature, which he has indicated he will sign. Jim Worthington has put all his resources and connections behind supporting this bill because of his connection to Matt Bellina, who suffers from ALS, a terminal illness giving him 2 – 5 years to live. Jim first met Matt in 2015 when he joined the Newtown Athletic Club, and they began raising money for Matt’s Mission to support Augie’s Quest and ALS TDI research. Read More...

The Atlantic Club’s Country Concert for ALS a Huge Success

The Atlantic ClubMANASQUAN, N.J. - The Country Concert for ALS at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan on Friday, April 27th proved to be a great success. The event brought together both members and the community to raise awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. A total amount of $7,500 was raised for the ALS Therapy Development Institute, in an effort to get AT-1501, the most promising drug to date in the treatment of ALS, into human trials this year.
