LAKE NONA, FL – The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) celebrated its 90th birthday this past weekend at the USPTA National Headquarters in Lake Nona, Florida. Originally known as the United States Professional Lawn Tennis Association (USPLTA), on Sept 23, 1927, a small group of tennis professionals gathered in an upper-story room of the Spalding building in New York City with the mission to bridge the gap between the amateur ranks and a respectable career as a tennis professional.

“Our 90th birthday is a milestone worth acknowledging and recognizing,” said USPTA CEO John Embree. “Congratulations to all USPTA members who make our association so special.”

During the celebration, the National Headquarters was visited by USPTA President Chuck Gill, who had the opportunity to tour the new building and celebrate with the staff. “I am glad to be in our new home celebrating the 90th anniversary of the USPTA,” said Gill. “It’s an honor to be here with such a hardworking staff and look forward to a bright future here in Lake Nona, Florida.

The USPTA recently relocated from Houston into a brand new state of the art building in Lake Nona, Florida and will be set to host the 2017 NEXT Generation: A Tennis Innovation Workshop powered by USTA & USPTA from October 11-15.
