WOODINVILLE, WA – Less than a year after the launch of their global partnership, a leading fitness equipment manufacturer, Precor, and fitness training system provider, eGym, celebrate the installation of eGym SmartStart on networked Precor cardio equipment in more than 100 clubs across Europe and the U.S.

“The eGym SmartStart automatic assessment and personalized training program delivers a best-in-class user experience,” says Jeff Bartee, Director, Emerging Experience and Partnerships at Precor. “We’ve worked hard to seamlessly integrate the eGym system with the Preva platform, and together I think we’ve delivered a fantastic and visually interactive service. In fact, we are so pleased with the results, we’re proud to offer the eGym service across all our cardio line with new Precor touchscreen consoles,” he adds.

The software allows users to easily log-in manually or using an eGym sourced RFID token. Once signed into the distinctive eGym training experience on either Precor cardio or eGym strength equipment, the exerciser is presented with interactive, visually-engaging graphics that guide them through their workout.

After completing a step-by-step cardio fitness test, eGym SmartStart establishes the appropriate level of workout intensity, and enables exercisers to set goals, monitor training sessions, and track results. The fitness test can be repeated every 28 days to assess physical performance. The results are displayed as “Cardio-Age”, which SmartStart uses to automatically update training objectives, set new workout intensities, and calculate the exerciser’s ideal training program on all eGym-enabled Precor cardio equipment.

After considerable success in five Gym 24 Herrenberg sites, and eight high-end Meridian Spa and Fitness Clubs in Germany, Precor and eGym introduced the technology to other clubs, including Wentworth and The Hurlingham in the UK, Migros in Switzerland, and Joan Miro in Spain. These clubs also benefit from a seamless visual experience between the Precor Experience Series P82 and P62 consoles and the eGym strength circuits.

“We are very proud of this joint success,” says Philipp Roesch-Schlanderer, co-founder and CEO of eGym.

Precor’s integrated approach has helped exercisers at Joan Miro increase their number of sessions by 5% each month. Over 90 percent stated that the eGym SmartStart experience helped them stay motivated and maintain progress.

“The installation of eGym SmartStart in more than 100 clubs all across Europe together with Precor in this short period of time demonstrates that the idea of networking the training floor is indeed the right approach to make the gym work for everyone,” says Roesch-Schlanderer.

“In Europe, our customers are combining the Precor-eGym cardio system with the eGym strength circuit to offer a visually seamless training experience with unparalleled tracking and monitoring. This digital step takes cardiovascular and strength training to the next level. As we celebrate the first 100 sites in Europe, we anticipate many more facilities will recognize the value this technology provides for the member experience,” says Bartee.

Following the success in Europe, Precor’s global partnership with eGym SmartStart continues to expand in the US including Longevity Performance Center in Naples, Florida, Silicon Valley YMCA (El Camino Branch), in Mountain View, California, and Prime Fitness RX, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“The collaboration between Precor and eGym represents a true partnership across all parts of our business,” says Andy Pickett, Regional Commercial Director for EMEA at Precor.
