Planet Fitness, Inc. Announces First Quarter 2018 Results

HAMPTON, N.H. - Planet Fitness, Inc. (NYSE: PLNT) reported financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2018: Total revenue increased from the prior year period by 33.2% to $121.3 million. System-wide same stores sales increased 11.1%. Net income attributable to Planet Fitness, Inc. was $19.9 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, compared to net income attributable to Planet Fitness, Inc. of $8.8 million, or $0.14 per diluted share in the prior year period. Net income was $23.5 million, compared to net income of $17.9 million in the prior year period. Adjusted net income increased 42.3% to $26.2 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, compared to $18.4 million, or $0.19 per diluted share in the prior year period. Adjusted EBITDA increased 15.4% to $48.8 million from $42.3 million in the prior year period. 47 new Planet Fitness franchise stores were opened during the period, bringing system-wide total stores to 1,565 as of March 31, 2018. MANASQUAN, N.J. - The Country Concert for ALS at The Atlantic Club in Manasquan on Friday, April 27th proved to be a great success. The event brought together both members and the community to raise awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. A total amount of $7,500 was raised for the ALS Therapy Development Institute, in an effort to get AT-1501, the most promising drug to date in the treatment of ALS, into human trials this year.
