Genesis Health Clubs to Close Three Recently Acquired Locations

KANSAS CITY, MO (kansascity.com) - Two weeks after taking over the eight area 24 Hour Fitness Clubs, Genesis Health Clubs plans to close three area locations. Two of the clubs set to close are former 24 Hour Fitness locations, as well as a former Gold’s Gym. Club members, including those who previously had single club access, will be given access to all of the Genesis Health Clubs in the Kansas City area with no increase in their monthly dues with the exception of Metcalf Super Sport and the Premier club at 12075 Metcalf Ave in Overland Park. Planet Fitness Says Don’t Sweat The Swimsuit

NEWINGTON, N.H. - With the first official week of summer underway, and with bathing suit season in full swing, a new survey by Planet Fitness shows that showing some skin is a source of some major summer stress. According to the independent survey, one-third (33%) of Americans would rather go to the dentist than wear a bathing suit this summer. The surveyed showed that "beachtimidation" is just as real as "gymtimidation," with nearly half (46%) of respondents claiming they do not feel confident about their body in a bathing suit. GoodLife Fitness Gives Calgary a ‘Prescription to Get Active’

CALGARY, AB – GoodLife Fitness locations in Calgary, Alberta have joined the Prescription to Get Active program to encourage more people to get moving. Developed by family doctors from the Primary Care Networks (PCNs), the program encourages sedentary patients who are at risk of developing chronic diseases to be more active by giving them a doctor-prescribed prescription for physical activity. As part of the program, GoodLife is extending a complimentary one-month membership to patients that have received a ‘Prescription to Get Active’ from their primary care physician. Genesis Health Clubs Now Largest Fitness Provider In Midwest

WICHITA, KS - Wichita-based Genesis Health Clubs vaulted to the top spot of fitness providers in the Midwest, announcing the purchase of an additional nineteen clubs throughout the region for a new total of 44 clubs in operation. The acquisition of 19 locations, included eight clubs from 24 Hour Fitness in the Kansas City metro area, seven clubs in the Omaha metro area, and two additional clubs each in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lincoln, Nebraska.
