BOSTON, MA – IHRSA President & CEO Liz Clark issued the following statement regarding news reports of the presumed loss of global health and fitness industry leader, Rainer Schaller, and his family while traveling in a twin engine, nine passenger plane from Mexico to Costa Rica on October 21:

Rainer was a giant in our industry, an innovator, and entrepreneur, and he was a leader who worked to shape our industry and benefit the health and well-being of the public.
