DALLAS, TX – Gold’s Gym celebrated 50 years as the gold standard of fitness at its Gold’s Gym Convention. An annual event, this year’s Convention, hosted in Dallas, TX, which is where its global headquarters is located, drew hundreds of franchise owners, gym managers, corporate leaders, fitness celebrities and vendors to celebrate the brand’s monumental 50th Anniversary. To top off the night, Gold’s Gym inducted Arnold Schwarzenegger into its esteemed Gold’s Gym Hall of Fame. Schwarzenegger helped Gold’s Gym put mainstream fitness on the map in the 1970s.

“This week, we celebrate 50 years as the world’s leading authority on health and fitness,” said Aaron Watkins, President of Gold’s Gym. “We were honored to celebrate this milestone with special guest Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is a key part of the heritage of our brand, and has helped catapult fitness into the mainstream.”

“When I first came to America, I went to Gold’s Gym before I even went to my first apartment. Gold’s Gym became my home, it was like a family to me,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger. “At the time, physical fitness wasn’t mainstream, but look at what we have accomplished in these 50 years, now everyone is working out. Remember that you all are a part of the fitness crusade that we started 50 years ago.”

In 1965, in a small concrete room in Venice Beach, Gold’s Gym opened its doors and launched a fitness revolution that would go on to bring exercise and healthy living to the forefront of American culture. Today, Gold’s Gym delivers life-changing results for millions of members, while changing perceptions of what it truly means to be strong throughout its 700 gyms across the globe.

From its humble beginnings as a gym that featured homemade equipment, to the addition of group exercise classes and unique amenities like Cardio Cinema®, Gold’s Gym has built a legacy of strength – inspiring millions to achieve their potential through fitness.

Gold’s Gym is already taking steps to ensure that legacy in the next 50 years − from its recent partnership with Microsoft, which brings fitness into the next era by providing branded workouts on the Microsoft Band, to an exciting variety of 50th initiatives including theGold’s Gym Fit Test, Gold’s Gym 12-Week Transformation Plans for anyone in America and the launch of its Gold’s Gym Strength Exchange.

“As we look ahead to our future, we are positioning Gold’s Gym to continue its legacy of strength through domestic and international growth that will allow the iconic brand to reach and change even more lives,” added Watkins. “It’s our hope that 50 years from now, everyone in the world will have access to the first-class fitness experience and elite personal trainers that only Gold’s Gym can offer.”

“It doesn’t matter if you come from the Middle East, Japan, China, Russia or Austria. It makes no difference where you come from; you are a part of the Gold’s Gym family. That is the beauty of Gold’s Gym and that is why I will never forget this place, even today,” continued Schwarzenegger.

An American icon and global brand, Gold’s Gym locations span from Australia and India to Japan to the Czech Republic and beyond. Excited to expand its global footprint even further, the brand signed a deal earlier this year that will bring Gold’s Gym to Mongolia, Jordan and Morocco. It now boasts a presence on every continent except Antarctica. The iconic symbol of strength transcends culture, language barriers and politics.

To help celebrate its 50th Anniversary, anyone in the U.S. can visit any Gold’s Gym for a complimentary week.
