Online Training is New Top Fitness Trend for 2021 according to ACSM Annual Forecast

Thus, it’s not shocking that more than 4,000 health and fitness pros surveyed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) identified online training as the new top trend in fitness for 2021. Online training moved up 25 spots from its number 26 rank in 2020. ACSM Updates Education Requirement to Maintain Gold Standard Certifications

American College of Sports MedicineINDIANAPOLIS, IN - The ACSM Committee on Certification and Registry Boards (CCRB) has announced substantial changes to the educational requirements for its two highest level certifications, the ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) and the ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP). The change will require candidates for the ACSM-EP and ACSM-CEP exams to have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology from a regionally accredited college or university that is also programmatically accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). ACSM and National Youth Sports Health & Safety Institute Named NYSS Champions

American College of Sports MedicineWASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recognized the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Youth Sports Health & Safety Institute (NYSHSI) as two of the first organizations to join the National Youth Sports Strategy (NYSS) Champion program. New Recommendations Steer Doctors Away From Opioids to Treat Pain in Adolescent Athletes

Identifying and appropriately managing acute and chronic pain is fundamental for short- and long-term health. This is especially true for adolescent athletes in whom inadequate or inappropriate pain management can lead to a lifetime of consequences including an increased risk of opioid misuse. A team physician consensus statement just released by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and five other professional sports medicine organizations shares guidelines to identify and manage pain in athletes ages 10 to 18.
