Life Fitness Hires Matt Smith as New Vice President of Marketing

FRANKLIN PARK, IL – In its continued effort to deliver world class exercise experiences to fitness facilities and exercisers worldwide, Life Fitness has hired Matt Smith to the position of Vice President, Marketing. In his new role, Smith will be responsible for leading the company’s global marketing strategy and will join the Life Fitness executive leadership team.

“Matt’s extensive experience in building iconic brands with both private and public companies makes him an exceptional addition to the Life Fitness team,” said Chris Clawson, CEO, Life Fitness. “He has a demonstrated track record in developing and leading innovative, fully integrated marketing programs that will drive our marketing strategy and team forward. Prior to joining Life Fitness, Smith was Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer with Certify, a leading SaaS-based expense and travel management software company, where he guided the business’s global strategic brand and growth plans. Prior to Certify, Smith was the Executive Vice President of Marketing with Performance Sports Group (Bauer Hockey, Easton Baseball, Maverik & Cascade Lacrosse), where he led substantial growth and enhanced market share through consumer-focused marketing and sales programs. He spent the previous 11 years in roles of increasing responsibility with Proctor & Gamble, Unilever and Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery. Smith earned his MBA from Vanderbilt University and his BA from the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business.
