ACSM Celebrates Black History Month with Special Webinar on COVID-19 Vaccine Adoption and the Black Community

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – February is Black History Month, a dedicated time to acknowledge the contributions of Black people to American society and culture, as well as a time to reflect on the racial injustices and discrimination still taking place today.
As part of Black History Month, ACSM will host a a special webinar from 4 – 5 PM EST on February 18. ACSM President NiCole Keith, Ph.D., FACSM, will moderate a discussion with vaccine expert Paul Offit, M.D.; and physicians Tina Master, M.D., FACSM; and Alex McDonald, M.D., on the current epidemiology of COVID-19, immunizations and the importance of vaccine acceptance, especially in Black communities, to end the pandemic.
The webinar learning objectives include:
- Understand the current epidemiologic trends of COVID-19 and the implications of emerging genetic variants on the pandemic;
- Describe the current state of vaccine development, those being distributed and the role that vaccines will play in ending the pandemic;
- Learn how to advocate for patients, especially those in Black communities, to maximize vaccine acceptance.
