NEWINGTON, N.H. – As reported in Club Industry Newsbeat and iClubs, New Hampshire Governor, Maggie Hassan, has vetoed a bill that would given Planet Fitness a tax break as it proceeds with an IPO filed last month. The bill would have made the selling of stocks without tax liability easier for public companies, thus affecting Planet Fitness directly.

Planet Fitness has previously expressed its desire to relocate if tax relief related to its IPO was not in place. With the veto, Planet Fitness reiterated this sentiment; however, the company hopes to still work with the Governor to “resolve the broader budget in a manner that incorporated the substance of this bill, which benefits many business in New Hampshire, from start-ups to public companies,” said Planet Fitness spokeswoman, McCall Gosselin.
