KANSAS CITY, MO – Genesis Health Clubs announced that the company has purchased four corporate-owned Gold’s Gym locations in the Kansas City metro including locations at NW Oldham Parkway in Lee’s Summit; W. 119th Street in Olathe; Ditzler Avenue near Liberty; and North Boardwalk Avenue in Kansas City, MO. The Westport Gold’s Gym is an independently owned and operated franchise location that is not part of this transaction.

Genesis first entered the Kansas City market with its purchase of the Midtown Athletic Club in Overland Park in March 2015. With 30 years of experience and expertise in the health and fitness industry, Genesis is a growing company looking forward to bringing its passion for health and fitness and excellence in customer service to Kansas City.

This latest acquisition is one of thirteen in the past five years for Rodney Steven II, owner and president of Genesis Health Clubs. Genesis doubled its footprint in the Midwest from 2011 through 2014 with the purchases of Maximus Fitness in Lawrence, Leavenworth and Topeka; Ozark Fitness in Springfield; and MAX Fitness in Manhattan.

“Over the past several years we have moved into many markets that I have wanted to open clubs in for some time,” said Steven. “I’ve always wanted to have a presence in Kansas City, and our Overland Park club has been a perfect fit for our brand. I’m excited that we have the opportunity to open four more clubs in the market, and KC can expect more exciting news of growth in the future!”

“We know that the members and employees of these four clubs will be in good hands with Genesis – which was our top priority when we agreed to sell these clubs,” said Brandon Bean, CEO of Gold’s Gym. “They are great operators with a presence in the Kansas City market that is now stronger than ever.

Genesis has 25 locations in Kansas and Missouri. Every city in the state of Kansas with a population of more than 30,000 is home to a Genesis health club.

As for the hint of continued growth, Steven explained, “I have a great team right now and a lot of the growth is being driven by them as well. Now that we are in every major city in Kansas and twenty-five clubs strong… we have new goals to set. Our focus is on the future. Nothing is more important than taking care of the health and fitness needs of our members!”
