NEW YORK, N.Y. – Equinox, the high performance lifestyle leader, kicked off celebrations to commemorate its 25th anniversary and reaffirmed an ongoing commitment to global growth and innovation across its rapidly expanding portfolio. Founded in 1991 as a single fitness club on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Equinox has grown to an international community of 83 clubs in three countries dedicated each day to fitness, health and life maximization.

Its 25th anniversary year, 2016, will mark Equinox’s fastest growth year to date, with 10 new clubs opening by year’s end, and planned expansion to 100 clubs by 2018. The brand will add iconic new locations in Hollywood, Bond Street, NYC and Vancouver, B.C., Canada by December, and continues to dominate its home market of New York City with six launches in 2016, including Dumbo, Williamsburg, East 92nd St., E. 53rd, Gramercy and Bond Street. In addition to Hollywood, Equinox has broadened its portfolio on the West Coast, expanding this year into San Diego County with Equinox La Costa and opening Equinox Berkeley in Northern California during early 2017.

“25 years ago, Equinox took a bold stance in a new category, effectively creating the concept of luxury fitness and driving fresh conversations about what high performance living means,” said Harvey Spevak, CEO, Equinox. “We remain unmatched—and more in-demand than ever before—because of our unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries, both inside and outside our clubs.”

Equinox has stayed at the forefront of the industry with programs and services that speak to the specific needs and interests of its clientele. Most recently, Equinox announced that it will open its first hotel in New York City in 2019 to offer a completely new 360-degree lifestyle experience. The hotel brand has planned expansion to more than 50 worldwide locations.

As an internationally recognized arbiter of luxury, Equinox offers members unparalleled, bespoke experiences in the fields of movement, nutrition and regeneration, and remains grounded by substance but elevated in style. Equinox’s style is on display in each of its endeavors, including brand advertising campaigns and in the unique design environments of individual clubs.

Fashion Photographers such as Steven Klein, who shot Equinox’s 2016 Commit to Something advertising campaign and will again work with the brand in 2017, plus past collaborators like Rankin and Terry Richardson, help convey Equinox’s signature aesthetic to global audiences. Equinox also works with designers like Meyer Davis and Yabu Pushelberg for the design of its clubs, balancing form and function to create one-of-a-kind environments. Additionally, Equinox announced in September an ongoing partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to launch the Coalition for Health as Beauty program, pursuing the shared goal of encouraging and promoting health and wellness in the fashion industry.

In true Equinox style, the brand will commemorate this milestone with the debut of a 25th Capsule Collection, 1991, featuring 10 pieces of men’s apparel, women’s apparel, bags and accessories, available exclusively at The Shop @ Equinox locations. With the substance of fitness at its core, Equinox will also introduce a limited, nationwide run of MetCon25—a special take on popular signature class MetCon3—with 5 rounds of metabolic conditioning with 5 exercises each and an intense grand finale.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Equinox, the high performance lifestyle leader, announced the opening of Equinox Williamsburg, its third club in Brooklyn and 83rd club globally.

Williamsburg has transformed in recent years from a predominately industrial neighborhood into a coveted urban residential, retail and entertainment destination, making Equinox Williamsburg the perfect high performance hub in this perennially evolving area. Located in the epicenter of Williamsburg, the 22,226 square foot club take cues from the manufacturing aesthetics of Brooklyn warehouses with a continuous clearstory skylight that caps over 23 foot ceilings and floods the interior with natural light to produce a distinctive space for Equinox’s unparalleled services.

“Equinox Williamsburg was thoughtfully designed to complement the area’s existing industrial landscapes featuring unique sculptural light arrangements to further define the fitness areas while manufacturing aesthetics such as stained plywood, cold rolled steel and ceramic tile dictate the details,” said Aaron Richter, Vice President of Architecture and Design for Equinox. “Whether members join us to experience world-class fitness, a spa retreat or a juice, Equinox Williamsburg is an urban sanctuary that is both energizing and restorative.”

Dynamic strength and stretch floors pulse alongside a robust cardio area while group fitness and cycling studios play home to our most innovative programming, The Pursuit by Equinox, an immersive and highly competitive cycling class. In addition, there is a yoga and barre studio.

Acclaimed Equinox group fitness instructors will lead a full range of yoga, cycling and innovative group fitness class offerings, such as The Cut, a cardio-forward boxing class set to the beat of the music, The Pursuit by Equinox, MetCon3 and various yoga classes.

Equinox Williamsburg’s fitness floor harnesses the power of open space to promote free-form training and multi-joint movement that mirrors our three-dimensional, real – life bodies. Members can work out on their own, or with one of Equinox’s highly skilled personal trainers.

Beyond the fitness floor lies The Spa @Equinox, featuring a two-room spa with a menu of offerings to rejuvenate and pamper the body – from deep tissue massages, post-workout sports massages to a full range of facials and body treatments.
