Ecore’s Athlete-Employees to Compete in 2016 Rio Olympics

LANCASTER, PA – Three part-time marketing pros at Ecore International in Lancaster, who also happen to be star players on the U.S. women’s field hockey team, will be heading to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Defenders Lauren “Cranny” Crandall and Stefanie Fee and midfielder Katie Reinprecht helped lead the team to a 3-0 win over Canada in the Pan American Games semifinals in Toronto.
In addition to securing the team’s berth at the 2016 games, the win also moved them to the Pan American final this Friday. They’ll battle Argentina, which beat Chile 5-0 in another semifinal game.
“I’m really proud of us for the work we put in over the last few years,” Crandall said in a news release. “While we’re excited, right now the big focus is going into a final against Argentina.”
A Doylestown native, Crandall is a two-time Olympian, having served as captain of the U.S. team at the 2012 London games and played with the 2008 squad in Beijing. Reinprecht, from Perkasie, was also on the 2012 Olympic team. Fee joined the national team in 2012.
Since 2013, the teammates have worked part time in the marketing department of Ecore Athletic, the sports and fitness division of flooring manufacturer Ecore International. They test products for the company, provide feedback to the designers, handle some social media duties and pitch Ecore’s athletic line to coaches and trainers around the country.
Arthur Dodge, III, CEO and president of Ecore, said in a Thursday email, “We are thrilled the U.S. Women’s National Team has qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games. There was no doubt in our minds that they would achieve this goal. Our employees, Lauren Crandall, Katie Reinprecht and Stefanie Fee, along with the rest of their teammates, have worked incredibly hard since the 2012 games to advance to where they are today. We wish the team well during the Pan Am finals tomorrow and are hoping they sweep the series.”
The team, currently ranked fifth in the world, trains at the Spooky Nook Sports complex in East Hempfield Township.
