Planet Fitness, Inc. Announces Third Quarter 2016 Results

NEWINGTON, N.H. - Planet Fitness, Inc. (NYSE: PLNT) reported financial results for its third quarter ended September 30, 2016 and announced it is pursuing an increase in the size of its credit facilities and considering paying a one-time dividend: Total revenue increased from the prior year period by 26.4% to $87.0 million. System-wide same store sales increased 10.0% compared to the prior year period. Net income was $14.9 million, or $0.08 per diluted share, compared to net income of $0.7 million, or $0.04 per diluted share in the prior year period. Adjusted net income increased 51.7% to $15.9 million, or $0.16 per diluted share, compared to $10.5 million in the prior year period. Adjusted EBITDA increased 33.5% to $35.4 million from $26.5 million in the prior year period. 37 new Planet Fitness franchise stores were opened during the period, bringing system-wide total stores to 1,242 at September 30, 2016. Planet Fitness Announces Second Quarter 2016 Results

NEWINGTON, N.H. - Planet Fitness, Inc. (NYSE: PLNT) reported financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2016: Total revenue increased from the prior year period by 15.9% to $91.5 million. System-wide same store sales increased 7.6%. Net income was $18.1 million, or $0.11 per diluted share, compared to net income of $11.6 million in the prior year period. Adjusted net income increased 27.5% to $16.8 million, or $0.17 per diluted share, compared to $13.2 million in the prior year period. Adjusted EBITDA increased 18.6% to $36.8 million from $31.0 million in the prior year period. 36 new Planet Fitness franchise stores were opened during the period, bringing system-wide total stores to 1,206 at June 30, 2016. NEWINGTON, N.H. - With the first official week of summer underway, and with bathing suit season in full swing, a new survey by Planet Fitness shows that showing some skin is a source of some major summer stress. According to the independent survey, one-third (33%) of Americans would rather go to the dentist than wear a bathing suit this summer. The surveyed showed that "beachtimidation" is just as real as "gymtimidation," with nearly half (46%) of respondents claiming they do not feel confident about their body in a bathing suit.
