INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The ACSM Executive Search Committee is pleased to share an update on the search for ACSM’s next transformative leader. In April, a CEO Search Committee was formed. Past ACSM President Walt Thompson, Ph.D., FACSM, is serving as Chair of the committee alongside these fellow members: ACSM President Bill Kraus, M.D., FACSM; ACSM President-Elect NiCole Keith, Ph.D., FACSM; Immediate Past President Katie Schmitz, Ph.D., M.P.H., FACSM; Past President Liz Joy, M.D., M.P.H., FACSM; student member Brandon Yates, M.S.; basic science member John Quindry, Ph.D., FACSM; and representing certified fitness professionals, Brad Roy, Ph.D., FACSM. ACSM Chief Science Officer Lynette Craft, Ph.D., FACSM, serves as the staff representative.

One of the first responsibilities the committee undertook was identifying an external executive search firm. The committee contacted multiple firms, interviewed the top two candidates and, ultimately, selected Korn Ferry, a nationally known firm with expertise in the health care, life sciences, nonprofit and associations sectors. For the purpose of preparing a position description, Korn Ferry engaged in a “discovery” phase, interviewing search committee members, past elected leaders and ACSM staff directors to better understand the culture as well as the qualifications and expectations needed for the new CEO. The Search Committee is now actively seeking qualified candidates. You can review the job posting and apply online or contact Kelly Ashmore of Korn Ferry to nominate a candidate.
