LOS ANGELES, CA – Technogym, a world leading company supplying fitness and wellness products, services and solutions, will be conducting a special edition of its globally successful Let’s Move for a Better World challenge at IHRSA 2015, the annual convention of the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association in Los Angeles, CA, taking place at the LA Convention Center from March 11 – 14. Technogym is exhibiting at Booth #1722.

For the duration of IHRSA, Technogym has created a special edition of this challenge for Augie’s Quest. All attendees will be able to donate their MOVEs, generated through workouts and daily physical activity to the cause via Technogym’s Mywellness app. At the end of the convention on Friday, March 13, Technogym will make a cash donation to Augie’s Quest based on the number of MOVEs collected during IHRSA.

The Let’s Move for a Better World challenge is the first worldwide wellness challenge to fight childhood obesity. Fitness facilities and their members compete to obtain the most amount of MOVEs (Technogym’s metric of measuring physical activity measured via the industry’s first open platform Mywellness and Challenge App) through physical activity. The facility with the most MOVEs in each country will be able to donate a line of Technogym equipment to a local school of its choice, helping combat childhood obesity within their local communities. Technogym has proven that this challenge effectively motivates members to work out and engage with their facilities, and also creating unique and powerful CRM opportunities for operators.

This year, the Let’s Move for a Better World challenge has registered over 357 facilities worldwide in 16 different countries, including 36 facilities in the United States, that have generated over 70 million MOVEs after only one week into the program. This represents over 45 million calories burned or roughly 13.000 lbs lost, which speaks to members’ proven enthusiasm to rally around social causes as they work out. Technogym will also aim to hit a global milestone of 200 million MOVEs during IHRSA with the Let’s Move for a Better World challenge, designed to impact childhood obesity, after hitting 100 million MOVEs earlier this week. To commemorate this important milestone, there will be a special celebration on the show floor hosted by Technogym President and Founder Nerio Alessandri at 5pm on Thursday, March 12 at Technogym Booth #1722

“The overwhelming response for the Let’s Move for a Better World challenge from facilities and their members all over the world, demonstrates a motivation to make a difference facilitated by technology and community spirit,” said Nerio Alessandri, President and Founder, Technogym. “This year, I am honored to also support my friend Augie Nieto and the noble mission of Augie’s Quest, and I call upon all IHRSA attendees to get involved in this special edition of the Challenge. Our ultimate goal is to get everyone involved and moving, and what easier way is there than through donating physical activity to an important cause.”

Augie’s Quest was founded by Life Fitness co-founder Augie Nieto and his wife Lynne. Technogym will be an official “Class President” sponsor of the Ten Year Anniversary Bash for Augie’s Quest on Friday, March 13, at 6pm at the JW Marriott Hotel, and will donate for the live auction, a line of equipment and an all expenses paid trip for two to visit the Technogym Wellness Village in Cesena, Italy. Proceeds from the evening will go towards ALS Therapy Development Institute, the world’s first and largest non-profit biotech focused 100 percent on ALS research, with the goal of finding effective treatments and a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

Through social cause initiatives such as Let’s Move for a Better World and ongoing partnerships with venerable organizations like the Lake Nona Impact Forum and the Clinton Health Matters Initiative, Technogym is at the epicenter of health oriented movements around the world, including passion causes such as combating childhood obesity.
