NEW YORK, N.Y. – Technogym, a leading company supplying products, services and solutions in wellness and fitness, is now accepting entries for the 2015 global Let’s Move for a Better World challenge, the first worldwide wellness challenge to fight childhood obesity, now in its second year.

The 2015 global challenge will run from March 2 – March 22, 2015, challenging fitness facilities and their members to see who can donate the most amount of MOVEs (Technogym’s metric of measuring physical movement via the first and only open platform mywellness cloud and Challenge App) with the end result of ultimately encouraging schools to fully incorporate fitness and wellness into early education settings.

The Let’s Move for a Better World challenge represents just one of the major cause oriented initiatives that Technogym has developed to promote physical literacy across the world, similar to its involvement in the Clinton Health Matters Annual Activation Summit in January 2015.

The Let’s Move for a Better World challenge underscores the important grassroots role that fitness facilities can take to impact public health and wellness in their local communities and encourage people of all ages to improve their health and to be proactive.

By promoting the challenge amongst their members, fitness facilities have the ability to galvanize their members under a single collective goal of collecting the most MOVEs nationwide.

The winning fitness facility in each participating country will have the opportunity to make a difference in their communities by donating Technogym’s Easy Line equipment to a local school of the facility’s choice and enabling kids to get active and moving. Fitness facilities may enroll to participate in the contest by logging on to http://www.technogym.com/us/letsmove/.

The challenge is made possible through Technogym’s Challenge App on the mywellness cloud, a revolutionary new platform that allows health enthusiasts to measure and aggregate all of the data surrounding their physical activities in one location through a large variety of third party apps and devices as well as Technogym cardio equipment.

The Challenge App also allows members to collect more MOVEs and add to the facilities’ cumulative total MOVEs count. During the challenge, individual members will simply log in to their mywellness account on Technogym equipment to document their MOVEs.
Each participant’s MOVEs will be automatically added to their facility’s grand total.

By introducing invaluable tools like the Challenge App and mywellness into the hands of the consumer, Technogym empower local communities looking to make a change through the Let’s Move for a Better World challenge.

“The Let’s Move for a Better World challenge embraces Technogym’s core proposition of improving wellness around the world, specifically when it comes to children’s fitness levels,” said Nerio Alessandri, President and Founder of Technogym. “Childhood obesity is one of the most serious epidemics of the 21st century, and through community engagement initiatives like the Let’s Move for a Better World challenge, we are able to educate and enable individuals of all ages to get active while combatting this global health problem.”

The first Let’s Move for a Better World challenge in 2014 recorded more than 100 million MOVEs, representing a total of 21,403 Movers at 180 fitness facilities worldwide in 10 different countries.

Key Health Institute in Edmond, OK in the United States was named the winner of the 2014 challenge, achieving 4,818,524 MOVEs and donating equipment to the Taft Middle School in Oklahoma City, OK. According to Mike Dupuis, Chief Operating Officer, Key Health Institute, the 2014 challenge was “[t]he best member engagement program in my 39 years in the industry.”

This 2015 challenge will include the following prizes for the first, second and third place fitness facilities:

  • The first place fitness facility will have the opportunity to donate Technogym’s Easy Line equipment to a local school of its choice, helping increase physical activity and combat obesity amongst children.
  • The second place facility will receive a $1,000 donation to a health related charity of its choice in addition to two pieces of Excite+ equipment for their facility.
  • The third place recipient will receive a $1,000 donation to a health related charity of its choice and one piece of Excite+ cardio for the facility.
