New ACE Education Offers Pilates Instructor Training for Exercise Professionals to Encourage Client Longevity

SAN DIEGO, CA – The American Council on Exercise (ACE) and Pilates Unlimited – The Art of Movement have launched a new continuing education course, the Pilates Mat Specialist Program. This new course prepares exercise professionals to incorporate mat Pilates exercises into their existing training offerings and confidently instruct specific mat Pilates classes.

“Gaining experience in mat Pilates offers exercise professionals a new skill to work with clients of all ages,” said Cedric X. Bryant, ACE president and chief science officer. “The new Pilates Mat Specialist program comes at an ideal time for exercise professionals to broaden their skills with this instructor training as mat Pilates can be taught in-person or virtually and requires little equipment.”

The new Pilates Mat Specialist Program equips exercise professionals with in-depth knowledge of Pilates theory including functional anatomy and movement principles, postures as well as modifications to adapt this modality for clients no matter their strength or familiarity with this type of exercise. Exercise professionals will learn the essential mind-body component of Pilates that supports professionals to guide their clients toward mindful exercise, better health and wellbeing.

A significant feature of this program is the focus on the practical application of Pilates theory and knowledge. In addition to traditional study materials and videos, students will also complete apprentice hours consisting of observation and practical teaching, including expert feedback from Tanya Thompson, founder of Pilates Unlimited – The Art of Movement and creator of the Pilates Mat Specialist Program.
