SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Netpulse, a provider of branded mobile apps for health clubs, announced the appointment of John Gengarella as its new CEO. John Ford will continue as president of the company.

Gengarella brings more than 25 years of experience delivering leading software solutions across a variety of industry verticals. He began his career in the fitness industry, owning several clubs in northern California. Prior to joining Netpulse, he served as the CEO of Voxify, a cloud customer interaction software solution for contact centers, until its acquisition by 24/7 Customer. Subsequently, he served as the chief revenue officer of 24/7 Customer and led the acquisition of Tellme, a division of Microsoft.

“Attracting a leader like John is another indication that Netpulse is on to something spectacular,” said President John Ford. “He’ll bring deep business experience and the insight we need to scale Netpulse as we double and triple our customer base in the next year.”

This appointment comes on the heels of Netpulse announcing several large new customers, including UFC Gym and Gold’s Gym. It also compliments several additional executive hires this year, including Mike Escobedo as SVP Customer Success and Greg Skloot as VP Growth.

“I am incredibly excited about the momentum Netpulse has in the market today,” said Gengarella. “I see our offering as the most robust integrated digital platform for the fitness industry.”

In late 2014, Netpulse acquired Atlanta-based Club Apps and has continued to grow as the dominant market leader in mobile technology for the fitness industry.

“Netpulse is on its way to hyper-growth, said Tom Proulx, Netpulse chairman and Intuit co-founder. “John is exactly the type of leader we need to expand our reach to health clubs around the world.”

Gengarella will be based out of Netpulse’s San Francisco headquarters.
