National Strength and Conditioning Association Announces 2016 National Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Health and fitness professionals from across the world will converge on the NSCA’s National Conference on July 6, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana to discover cutting-edge research and practical applications in strength and conditioning, presented by the industry’s most elite and respected experts. One of the many exciting events that will be held during the conference is the Award Ceremonies where distinctive honors are given to several professionals for outstanding achievement. This year’s award winners are as follows:

  • NSCA Impact Award – Yuri Verkhoshansky, PhD (given posthumously)
  • Alvin Roy Award for Career Achievement – Don Chu, PhD, CSCS, *D, NSCA-CPT, *D, FNSCA
  • William J. Kraemer Outstanding Sport Scientist of the Year – Michael R. McGuigan, PhD, CSCS
  • Terry J. Housh Outstanding Young Investigator of the Year – David H. Fukuda, PhD, CSCS, *D
  • Educator of the Year – Brent Alvar, PhD, CSCS, *D, RSCC*D
  • Nutritional Research Award – Chad M. Kerksick, PhD, ATC, CSCS, *D, NSCA-CPT,*D
  • High School Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year – Micah Kurtz, MS, CSCS, RSCC*D, NBCT, USAW
  • Personal Trainer of the Year – Nick Tumminello, NSCA-CPT
  • Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialist of the Year – Robert Panariello, MS, PT, ATC, CSCS
  • State/Provincial Director of the Year – Andrew Shim, EdD, CSCS, *D
  • Strength and Conditioning Journal Editorial Excellence Award – Melissa Aversa, CSCS
  • The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Editorial Excellence Award – N. Travis Triplett, PhD, CSCS, *D, FNSCA and Jared W. Coburn, PhD, CSCS, *D, FNSCA
