U.K. – Myzone has announced the launch of MZ-Open, an access function that enables Myzone gym users to experience all the benefits of Myzone’s world renowned heart rate training biome through their pre-owned Apple or Android smart watch.

In today’s tech driven world, many gym goers already own a smart watch and the percentage of smart watch users is anticipated to grow. According to a recent Statista prediction, by 2028 the global smart watch market will jump from a value of just over $38 billion in 2021 to more than $62 billion. As the world embraces smart watch technology to log, manage and track personal fitness, health and wellbeing, Myzone is embracing this trend by offering a more inclusive route into its unique heart rate training ecosystem and global community.

“By integrating with Apple and Android smart watches we reduce barriers to entry, helping gym operators encourage even more members to join the Myzone community,” explains Myzone’s Global CEO, David Stalker. “Our research proves that gym goers engaged with Myzone remain members 24 per cent longer than those who don’t, driving significant additional revenue for operators whilst also creating healthy, active, long-term habits for individuals.

“Until now, our own brand wearable devices have provided the only access route into our community but today that changes. Now, almost all gym members with a smart watch, working out in a Myzone powered training environment, will be able to reap the benefits of our effort driven connected fitness community.”

The big ‘switch on’ takes place on March 13, 2024. From this date onwards, all existing Myzone powered training zones in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand will be able to activate MZ-Open, hugely extending their opportunity to attract more members into their Myzone connected communities.

Josh Cooper, Head of Fitness at Milo And The Bull – a high end boutique health and fitness brand operating three studios in London has been piloting MZ-Open. He says: “What I love about MZ-Open is the way it encourages members with no interest in purchasing a new wearable device to give Myzone a try using their existing smart watch. As a result, we have seen engagement increase. MZ-Open makes Myzone more accessible to everyone who visits our studios.”

Myzone’s CTO, Leon Rudge, says: “Our product development is always driven by market need. In this case, gym operators were telling us, once people engage with Myzone they stay engaged but getting that initial buy-in can often be obstructed by the need to purchase a new wearable. We listened. From March 13, millions more gym goers around the world will be able to engage with Myzone.”

Pairing an Apple or Android smart watch to Myzone is easy. Once activated, users have access to Myzone’s ecosystem providing accurate heart rate training, fitness tests, real-time feedback and access to the Myzone’s global community. By simply scanning a QR code on screen with a smartphone, users can also join live gym boards and keep earning MEPs (Myzone Effort Points) whenever they move.

The ‘switch-on’ of MZ-Open will take place on March 13, 2024.
