SILVER SPRING, MD – In its ongoing effort to educate and enlighten the U.S. about the dangers of physical inactivity, PHIT America, the charity and campaign created by tennis industry veteran Jim Baugh, is giving the American general public the chance to be a part of the solution with its first National Fundraising & Awareness Campaign. And, everyone in the tennis industry can help.

In order to reach millions of Americans, PHIT America has developed a turn-key program for tennis sponsors, supporters, ambassadors, professionals and partners to deliver its message. PHIT America is the official charity of Play Tennis Month, which is the month of May, but also continues with promotions year-round.

On SMT.PHITAmerica.org, tennis industry companies will see both social media video slideshows and emails which can easily be posted or sent to company or personal contacts. The goal of this campaign is to educate Americans on the ‘Inactivity Pandemic,’ how PHIT America programs get kids moving and to ask Americans to donate. Donations will be used to expand the PHIT America GO! Grants program, including grants for tennis curriculum for those donating from the tennis industry.

PHIT America has a campaign targeting tennis participants and fans. Just go to SMT.PHITAmerica.org. Then, just click, copy and paste the campaigns into Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram. If a company or organization has a good email list, it can send an image which explains PHIT America’s programs and goals. And, it cost nothing to help. Just go to SMT.PHITAmerica.org.

After Americans see the message from PHIT America, they can go to Give.PHITAmerica.org or they can also text to give by texting: 50155, Message: Tennis.

By supporting this outreach effort, there is a bonus for the tennis industry. Funds raised by the tennis industry will be used for PHIT America GO! Grants that have a specific tennis curriculum. Jim Baugh — the Founder of PHIT America, former President of Wilson, former President of Tennis Industry Association, former USTA Board Member, and Tennis Hall of Fame inductee — has put this campaign together and is asking everyone in the tennis industry to help.

“More and more Americans, especially kids, are totally sedentary,” stated Baugh. “They are not playing tennis or any other sport. We have to get kids physically moving and this campaign will help solve the ‘Inactivity Pandemic.’ And, everyone can help. It costs nothing to participate. Just go to SMT.PHITAmerica.org. It is a turn-key program for you to help.”

“Tennis is the perfect activity for Americans of all ages to use to get moving and healthy,” said Jolyn de Boer, Executive Director of the Tennis Industry Association. “According to extensive research, tennis is the number one activity for a long and healthy life and we are really pleased to be working with PHIT America as part of a nationwide awareness campaign to shed light on the country’s ‘Inactivity Pandemic.”

PHIT America is on a crusade to provide financial help or, in some cases, reinstate P.E. curriculum in elementary schools. Since the fall of 2015, PHIT America has been engaged in distributing grants, called GO! Grants, to elementary school P.E. programs, having awarded more than 375 grants. In all, nearly 200,000 school children have been impacted by the grants and are now physically active. The need for these PHIT America GO! Grants exists as many school districts continue to cut back on P.E. and recess.

The PHIT America GO! Grants range in size from $1,000 to $5,000 per school. In every PHIT America GO! Grant application, schools indicate the need of their students to develop motor skills, reduce obesity, and increase physical literacy and fitness.
