CAMBRIDGESHIRE, ENGLAND – Global fitness equipment manufacturer Escape Fitness has secured a successful outcome in a patent dispute with ZIVA Fitness.

ZIVA agreed to cease sale in the UK of its Dual Surface Plyo Box and paid an undisclosed sum after Escape alleged infringement of its patent relating to the Escape Plyosoft Box. The patent successfully asserted by Escape against Ziva protects Escape’s proprietary system for securely and safely attaching plyo boxes together using fixing straps that stow securely when not in use.

Escape Fitness Co-founder Matthew Januszek says: “We believe strongly in intellectual property and protecting it is something we take seriously. The outcome of this dispute is welcome as it provides clarity on the extent of our patent. This is especially important as the design feature is also incorporated into the design of Escape’s new PLYO360 octagonal-shaped platform range. It’s reassuring to know that our IP is also protected on this innovative new product.”
