INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) announced that Current Sports Medicine Reports (CSMR) is now the organization’s official journal. CSMR, which is a clinical review journal published by the American College of Sports Medicine, will now be available as a resource to all FIMS members, whose ranks include sports medicine physicians and researchers across the globe.

“Today’s sports medicine professionals require top research to make the best decisions they can about athlete care in their work,” said Jim Whitehead, CEO/EVP of the American College of Sports Medicine, publisher of CSMR. “We’re so pleased to share our top-notch clinical journal with the members of FIMS, who are leaders in sports medicine and elite athlete care.”

With Editor-in-Chief William O. Roberts, MD, MS, FACSM at the helm, CSMR divides the broad field of sports medicine into 12 sections, each headed by a physician editor with extensive practical experience in that area. Since being acquired by ACSM, CSMR has achieved inclusion in the Thomson Reuters database. In two years, CSMR has experienced rapid growth in its impact factor (increasing approximately 50 percent), which is an increase most journals require numerous years to achieve.

“FIMS is proud to announce the new partnership with Current Sports Medicine Reports (CSMR) This association with one of the leading sports medicine journals enhances FIMS educational and scientific activities and adds further value for all FIMS members,” said the President of the International Federation of Sports Medicine Prof. Fabio Pigozzi, “I am sure that this collaboration will strengthen our relationship with the sport, scientific and medical communities”.

FIMS members will have electronic access to CSMR on a bimonthly basis, as the journal publishes. An International perspectives column highlighting the work of FIMS will appear in each issue beginning with the May/June 2017 edition, and once per year a FIMS member will be featured in the journal’s Clinician Profile column. Additionally, three FIMS members will serve on the journal’s Editorial Board. For more information about CSMR, please visit www.acsm-csmr.org.
