DENVER, CO – When it came time for PTontheNet chairman Neal Spruce to expand the talent driving the PTontheNet and PTA Global brands, one person came immediately to mind: Karen Perlmutter. Not coincidentally, Perlmutter was looking for a new challenge and relished her 15 years with Spruce at the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) where they launched, built and sold one of the industry’s leading trainer certifications.

“Karen is one of those rare individuals who comes along too few times in a ‘business lifetime.'” said Spruce. “Her quest to deliver only the best for clients and partners drives her passion and motivation. Her successful history in our industry is our luxury and she comes aboard with an immense following of top-tier fitness operators.”

By mid-April Karen transitioned to her new role as Director of Strategic Partnerships. With measured goals in hand and a dedication to customer service in her blood, Perlmutter jumped head first into communicating the value of PTontheNet and PTA Global to her loyal following of health club owners and operators.

“Our story is simple and straightforward,” said the California native. “We can increase the gym’s bottom line by providing world class customer service and sales training so members will want to stay. We help gym operators create a culture people want to be part of.”

With a personal goal of adding a single club per day to the list of new customers, Perlmutter is personally responsible for adding over 100 new customers in her first three months on the job.

Perlmutter’s success is steeped in that most elusive of traits – trust. Her LinkedIn profile overflows with glowing endorsements from some of the industry’s leading operators. “I genuinely care about people and especially my customers,” she said. “I want them to be successful and they know it. I follow up with people and they trust me. It’s a great compliment.”

As any person ever involved in sales will tell you, 90% of the job is believing in the product or service you represent. “It’s easy to love what you do, when your company’s the best there is at it,” said Perlmutter, who eagerly looks forward to taking the companies to the next level with the support of Gold’s Gym icons Willy and Angel Baños. “When we all get together – Angel, Willy, Neal, and me – we’re a really good team.”

“Karen’s ability to truly listen to the customer is a trait that sets her apart,” said Spruce. “If our customers suggest something that we don’t have or we’re not doing, Karen lets us know and we don’t hesitate. We get right on it.”
