SAN DIEGO, CA – Health and exercise professionals engage with people from a range of cultures, identities and backgrounds. On Wednesday, April 13, the American Council on Exercise (ACE) will host a live education session with equity, diversity and inclusion practitioner, Rory G. James, MPH, to discuss the significant role health and exercise professionals play in health equity.

James will share information about racial microaggressions in the context of health and fitness and the importance of addressing barriers certain communities may experience when accessing these services.

This free education session discussion is in observation of Minority Health Month. Registration is available here.

For many racial and ethnic minorities in the United States, health disparities take on many forms including high rates of chronic disease and premature death (NIH (National Institute for Health)). These are due to a set of conditions, known as social determinants of health (SDOH), and include age, where we are born, where we live, work, play, and worship.
