CAMBRIDGE, MA – The ALS Therapy Development Institute announced that the Race 4 Research 5K and Walk will be held on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Technology Square Courtyard in Cambridge, MA. The Race 4 Research features a 5K and four-mile walk, but it also includes family activities and refreshments courtesy of local restaurants and breweries. All funds raised benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute, a nonprofit biotech whose scientists actively discover and develop treatments and a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

The Race for Research has a fundraising goal of $100,000 this year to advance ALS research. Formerly known as “The Cure is Coming!” the event has raised more than $455,000 since 2005.

“ALS is a progressive disease and a race against time. This event raises significant funding to advance promising ALS research and potential treatments toward the clinic. The thousands of people that have run, walked, or rolled as part of this event over the years have brought research forward in hugely important ways. With the Ice Bucket Challenge last year, we hope that even more people will come out and continue to show their support in the effort to end ALS,” says Steve Perrin, Ph.D., CEO and Chief Scientific Officer at the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

The Race for Research will open registration at 8:30 AM. The 5K road race and four-mile walk will begin promptly at 9:30 and 9:45AM, respectively.
