Genesis Health Clubs Acquires The Sandbox Locations in Derby and Kansas City

DERBY, KS – Genesis Health Clubs announces the acquisition of both locations of The Sandbox, effective immediately. The Sandbox locations in Derby, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri feature acres of volleyball, pickleball and corn hole, as well as full-service restaurants and bars to complement the sports action.
Genesis Health Clubs Owner and President Rodney Steven II commented on the acquisition: “Family and Sports entertainment is becoming a big part of our company, between Blast Off Bay Indoor Waterpark, Volleyball Beach, and our upcoming pickleball and volleyball locations in Goddard, North Kansas City, and Des Moines, we’re helping adults and kids get active and have fun in so many ways that fits perfectly with the growth of Genesis. Adding The Sandbox and is a natural fit and helps us expand our fitness footprint in some of our key markets.”
Steven continued, “Kansas City has been our biggest Genesis market for nearly eight years now, and we’re still growing. Between Volleyball Beach, which we acquired last year, our upcoming North Kansas City location that will include beach volleyball, and this acquisition of The Sandbox, we’ll have so many synergies in the city for Genesis members and the community, in general.”
Asked about the Derby location, Steven reflected, “We have a similar location coming across town in Goddard, so this makes a lot of strategic sense. It also represents a commitment to active entertainment that fits well with our baseball and aquatic facilities, and Blast Off Bay Indoor Waterpark. Fitness and fun go hand in hand, and we’re growing it in the entire Wichita Metro.”
