NEW YORK, N.Y. – Cycle for Survival is proud to announce the creation of the Equinox Innovation Initiative, established at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). The initiative honors Equinox’s significant partnership with Cycle for Survival in support of rare cancer research.

The focus of the Equinox Innovation Initiative will be Cycle for Survival’s distinguished research awards that are presented annually to MSK’s top physicians and scientists through a competitive application process conducted by the institution.

Cycle for Survival, which is owned and operated by MSK, has raised more than $105 million in the past 10 years; every dollar goes to rare cancer research studies and clinical trials led by MSK. Equinox’s unwavering support as Cycle for Survival’s founding partner has enabled the movement’s continued growth.

The Equinox Innovation Initiative, administered by MSK, backs the best investigators, projects, programs and ideas—with an emphasis on rare cancers. The research award recipients aim to improve the diagnosis and treatment of rare cancer patients worldwide. The grants they receive are funded by money raised by Cycle for Survival participants each year. The 2016 grants include a variety of topics and areas of research, such as: bile duct cancer, germ cell tumors, kidney cancer, lymphoma, pancreatic cancer, pediatric sarcoma, and others.

Next year marks Cycle for Survival’s 11th year of team indoor cycling rides. In 2017, more than 31,000 riders in 16 cities across the country will participate in February and March. Led by Equinox instructors, the Cycle for Survival community will come together to experience heart-pumping music, dancing, and inspiring stories and tributes. Registration for the events opens next month with the Times Square Takeover kickoff event on September 30.
