NEW YORK, N.Y. – On the move again, Blink Fitness is rapidly accelerating its growth into major markets across the United States. Blink, which focuses on how exercise makes you feel rather than exclusively on how it makes you look, is set to break into new metropolitan areas across the Eastern Seaboard with the signing of a nine-gym agreement.

The agreement inked with entrepreneurial couple Carlos and Laura Gavidia calls for three locations in Virginia Beach and six gyms in Jacksonville, Florida. The first gym is slated to open summer 2019 in Virginia Beach. This will be the first time Blink breaks ground in each of these markets.

“We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to bring Blink to Virginia Beach and Jacksonville,” said Carlos Gavidia. “In a time when health is the new wealth, there is an increasing demand for a premium-quality yet accessible gym for everyone. Blink satisfies this demand and exceeds expectations on what it means to be a gym.”

Carlos had a successful 25 years in the credit card industry, where he developed a business from scratch before selling it to Goldman Sachs and private equity in 2014. Not without her own entrepreneurial spirit, Laura began her career in residential and commercial interior design, working on model home design before moving onto custom home building. Laura played a role in Carlos’ credit card company, and the couple got a taste of working together in business. After five years of retirement and traveling, the couple desired a chance to work together again and alongside their 21-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter.

“Blink Fitness is a great brand from top to bottom. The leadership, the mission and the premium experience at an affordable price is the perfect combination,” added Laura. “We also wanted to use our experience to start a business with our kids. Blink is the perfect fit with this idea as it incorporates a healthy lifestyle along with business sense to create a well-rounded experience to pass onto our children in their own lives.”

Blink offers a special place for any community that it enters. The gym offers a truly unique experience to its members, based on a company philosophy of Mood Above Muscle™, which celebrates the positive feelings you get from exercise rather than just the physical benefits. This comes to life in each gym through a commitment to providing modern and colorful design, elevated customer service, relentless focus on cleanliness, energizing music and confidence-boosting training programs.

“Blink has always been forward-thinking when it comes to creating rewarding experiences for members and franchisees, alike. Offering opportunities for entrepreneurs, like Carlos and Laura, to create their own legacies has been one of the most rewarding aspects of Blink’s franchise opportunity,” said Todd Magazine, CEO of Blink. “We are so excited to see what the Gavidia family will accomplish in the future and are confident they will deliver the quality standards for Blink’s Feel Good Experience® as they develop Blink in Virginia and Florida.”
