NASHVILLE, TN – When the co-founders of a company kick-off the opening ceremonies wearing plaid purple kilts, playing air guitars and boisterously lip-synching Queen’s “We are the Champions,” you know that you’re not attending just any corporate conference. But, that’s precisely how Chuck Runyon and Dave Mortensen jump-started last week’s annual get-together, attended by nearly 2,500 Anytime Fitness franchisees, club managers, personal trainers, vendors and corporate staffers.

Recently honored as the “#1Top Global Franchise” by Entrepreneur magazine, Anytime Fitness is the world’s fastest-growing fitness club chain, serving more than 2.5 million members in nearly 3,000 clubs in 22 countries on five continents.

“We think of our annual conference as the most important event of the year for the entire franchise,” said Runyon. “It’s a time to celebrate our accomplishments, reflect on what we’ve accomplished and where we’re headed, share new information, visit with good friends and rejuvenate ourselves for the coming year.”

In addition to traditional conference seminars, presentations and guest speakers, the Anytime Fitness convention featured a massive outdoor workout attended by nearly 1,000 franchisees and staffers, tattoo artists who permanently inked 200 conference attendees with the company’s “Runningman” logo, and a Saturday night awards ceremony that poked fun at both Runyon and Mortensen while celebrating the accomplishments of several extraordinary Anytime Fitness members and employees.

“We believe in operating at the intersection of purpose, people, profits and play,” said Mortensen. “That’s why we mix our serious business with serious fun. Our annual conference is reflective of how we do business all year round, albeit with a little extra dose of fun.”

The planning has already begun for next year’s fun. The 2016 Anytime Fitness annual conference will be September 8-11 in Lake Placid, NY.
