CLUB INDUSTRY – As initially reported by Club Industry: 24 Hour Fitness CEO, Tony Ueber, has left the company, and 24 Hour COO, Karl Sanft, has taken over as interim CEO, according to a statement from 24 Hour Fitness.

“Tony Ueber has decided to leave 24 Hour Fitness and Karl Sanft has been promoted to the role of interim CEO in a seamless transition that has no impact on our clubs or member experience,” the statement from the company read.

Ueber had been CEO since January 2019. He led the company through its Chapter 11 filing in June 2020, brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and through its emergence in December 2020.

Ueber sat down with Club Industry in February 2021 to share details of the path forward for 24 Hour Fitness.

Sanft joined 24 Hour Fitness in April 2019 after having spent 20 years at Best Buy, according to his LinkedIn profile.

24 Hour did not offer further details on where Ueber went or on its search for a permanent CEO. As more details emerge, Club Industry will provide updates.
