TIMONIUM, MD – PF Growth Partners, LLC (PFGP), an award-winning franchise division of Planet Fitness, is going to “The Golden State.” In June, the Timonium, Maryland-based group is scheduled to open its first California gym in San Bruno, bringing its portfolio to 70 U.S. clubs and six Australian clubs.

“We’re excited to take our footprint to yet another U.S. state so more people can benefit from a high-quality fitness experience at an exceptional value in a hassle-free, non-intimidating environment,” said PFGP Co-Owner Victor Brick, adding that the group plans to open a total of nine clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The 11,996-square-foot San Bruno club will offer state-of-the-art cardio machines and strength equipment, 30-Minute Express Circuit, fully equipped locker rooms with day lockers and showers, numerous flat screen televisions, HydroMassage beds, massage chairs, tanning beds, a Total Body Enhancement booth and more.

As with all Planet Fitness locations, the San Bruno club will operate with enhanced protocols for working out in the safest way possible including: increased sanitation, employee temperature checks, touchless check-in featuring COVID-19 wellness questions for all members and guests, signage promoting Social Fitnessing™ throughout the facility, and Crowd Meter on Planet Fitness’ mobile app that allows members to check club capacity before coming into the gym.

Opening the San Bruno club comes at a pivotal time. Lockdowns led to a 32 percent reduction in physical activity among individuals who were physically active. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported that approximately 78 percent of U.S. adults who were hospitalized due to COVID-19 between March and December 2020 were overweight or obese.

Physical activity has proven to be a protective factor against COVID-19, while building a stronger immune system and helping to reduce anxiety, stress and depression.

“Planet Fitness believes fitness is essential to the physical and mental health of people who are eager to get out of the house and resume their active lifestyles,” Brick said. “We are doing our part in combatting this ongoing pandemic by providing access for people to exercise and stay healthy.”

Brick and his wife, Lynne, are international fitness experts who became one of the first Planet Fitness franchisees in 2007. With more than 500,000 members and 1,250 employees in the United States, they currently own and operate clubs in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Tennessee, Florida and Washington State.

PFGP also is one of three partners in Bravo Fit Holdings Pty Ltd., which entered into an area development agreement with Planet Fitness in 2019 to bring a minimum of 35 Planet Fitness clubs to Australia. To date, the first six clubs have opened.

Later this year, PFGP is scheduled to open clubs in Ellicott City, Md. and Portland, Tn., and renovate and add PF Black Card® spa areas (with HydroMassage beds, massage chairs, tanning beds and Total Body Enhancement booth) to its Hagerstown, and Elkton, Md. clubs.
