DALLAS, TX – Gold’s Gym, a trusted fitness authority, has announced that former Senior Vice President of Eastern U.S. Operations and longtime Washington D.C. resident, Matt Clifford, along with Gold’s Gym corporate veterans, Brenda Jorgensen and Josh Fuglsby, has purchased the franchise rights to 24 company-owned gyms throughout the D.C. area. CFJ Holdings is the newest addition to the brand’s portfolio of area franchisees, which now collectively covers more than 40 Gold’s Gym locations across D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

Clifford began his career with Gold’s Gym in 2001 as a front desk team member at Gold’s Gym Van Ness in D.C. He continued to climb the organization’s corporate ranks and in his latest role oversaw operations of approximately 70 company-owned gyms east of Texas. Jorgensen previously served as a director of human resources for Gold’s Gym across the Eastern U.S., while Fuglsby’s 20-year history with the brand includes serving as a regional vice president overseeing Gold’s Gym operations across San Antonio, Colorado and California.

“The fact that the gym I once served as a front desk team member for is now one of 24 Gold’s Gym locations we own and operate is a testament to the incredible opportunities we have access to as part of the Gold’s Gym family,” Clifford said. “My partners and I see tremendous potential to enhance the Gold’s Gym experience in the D.C. market. We are excited to strengthen the ties between the Gold’s Gym brand and the communities we serve across the greater D.C. area.”

With Clifford in the lead as the franchise group’s president and CEO, Jorgensen will assume the role of chief experience officer for the franchise group, and Fuglsby will serve as the franchise group’s chief operating officer.

“This strategic acquisition in the D.C. area further strengthens our position as a leading franchisor of full-service, full-amenity gyms across the globe,” said Gold’s Gym President and CEO Adam Zeitsiff. “Matt’s knowledge of the area plus the combined 45 years of Gold’s Gym leadership experience he and his partners bring to the network make them the perfect fits for their new franchising roles. We look forward to helping them take advantage of the foundation the brand has already established in the market and are excited for Matt and his partners to join our growing franchise network.”
