Prestigious Cleveland Community Center Selects Active Wellness to Manage Fitness Operations

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Active Wellness, a fitness design and management company, announces its new contract with an award-winning community center, the Mandel JCC, located just east of Cleveland, Ohio. The distinguished community center selected Active Wellness to manage its fitness, aquatics and membership operations.
While the Mandel JCC is already a state-of-the-art community center that’s won Best Fitness Center for five consecutive years, its CEO and President Michael Hyman selected Active to take the member experience to the “next level.”
“We see ourselves as a best-in-class fitness provider and by bringing in Active Wellness, it gives us access to expertise and resources in the continuously changing fitness industry,” said Hyman.
The Mandel’s Board of Trustees shares President Hyman’s enthusiasm, “As a leader in the fitness industry, Active Wellness has a wealth of experience in managing community-based fitness centers and wellness programs throughout North America, and we look forward to the expertise they will bring to the Mandel JCC,” said Mindy Davidson, Chair, Board of Trustees. Davidson further noted that Active’s role will be to “enhance the member experience through new and innovative programming.”
For the Mandel JCC, Active Wellness will recruit an executive-level General Manager and all (140) current employees will become Active Wellness employees. While all outward facing aspects, like uniforms, nametags, and branding, will remain unchanged, Team Active will seamlessly manage employee relations and payroll through an efficient paperless portal.

The agreement was solidified in August 2019 and operations will migrate to Active Wellness by year’s end.
