NSCA Announces 2019 Tactical Strength and Conditioning Practitioner of the Year Award Winner

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) announces that Tyler Christiansen has been selected as the NSCA’s Tactical Strength and Conditioning Practitioner of the Year for 2019. Christiansen becomes the fourth recipient of the award, which has been handed out since 2016. Award winners are selected by a volunteer committee, the NSCA Task Force, who determine the winner based on their contributions to teaching and practical application in the field of tactical strength and conditioning.

Tyler Christiansen is a veteran soldier currently working as the Human Performance Director for the Special Warfare Training Wing. Christiansen has worked the last 15 years with tactical athletes in the Special Operations Forces (SOF), fire/emergency medical services (EMS), and law enforcement communities, including as the Tactical Strength and Conditioning (TSAC) Program Manager at the NSCA, the 7th Special Forces Group, 10th Special Forces Group, a Special Missions Unit in the greater Washington D.C. area, as an Exercise Physiologist at the Army Physical Fitness Research Institute, and as a contractor in Baghdad, Iraq. Additionally, Christiansen has worked with sport athletes at Iowa State University, Illinois State University, and the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball (MLB) organization. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® with Distinction (CSCS,*D®), Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator® with Distinction (TSAC-F*D®), and a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach® with Distinction (RSCC*D).

Christiansen will receive his award at the NSCA’s Tactical Annual Training which will be held in San Antonio, TX from August 20 – 23, 2019. The conference is the premiere educational event of the year for tactical professionals. Experts in law enforcement, military, first response, and exercise science all come together to lead attendees through the latest in practical strength and conditioning and applied research, with an emphasis on integrated medicine.
