CHANHASSEN, MN – Ride for a Reason, the indoor cycling movement to help find a cure for childhood cancer and improve children’s nutrition, has raised more than $750,000 during the second annual event hosted at more than 100 Life Time destinations across the country. Fundraising for the event remained open through May 22, allowing participants additional time to raise funds for two charity partners, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Life Time Foundation.

“We are amazed by the support our Ride for a Reason fundraisers have given to St. Jude,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Thanks to these supporters and partners like Life Time Fitness, St. Jude can continue the pioneering research and care that saves the lives of children fighting cancer and other deadly diseases in communities everywhere.”

Having reached a significant fundraising milestone in its second year event, Ride for a Reason continues to grow in popularity nationwide. Key statistics this year include:

  • More than 8,000 participants – including childhood cancer survivors, patients, doctors, family members, researchers and supporters.
  • More than 30 major markets throughout the country participated – growing Ride for a Reason’s following throughout the country.
  • More than 875 teams were formed to ride during the four-hour cycling event.
  • More than $1 million dollars raised by nearly 10,000 participants in 2016 and 2017.
