VANCOUVER, B.C. – Equinox, a high performance lifestyle leader, announced the opening of Equinox Vancouver, its first club on the West Coast of Canada and 84th club globally.

The club opens to enthusiastic reception from the active Vancouver community who live and work at and around the city centre location. The area, long known as a hub for business, shopping and entertainment, lacked options for its health-minded residents, making Equinox a functional addition to an already vibrant neighborhood.

“Vancouver is a world-class city full of driven entrepreneurs, artists, families, and thought leaders who embrace a high performance lifestyle,” said Harvey Spevak, CEO of Equinox. “We’ve seen a growing demand for the Equinox lifestyle in Canada, and know that our entry into Vancouver will be a perfect complement to this community. In a city that already has the appetite for a holistic approach to fitness, our offerings will enrich an amazing city even further.”

Whether members join Equinox Vancouver to maximize ski season, treat themselves to a massage or for one-on-one Pilates instruction, they’ll be greeted with a club that reflects Vancouver’s stunning natural landscape and lively urban environment. Designed to echo Pacific Northwest sensibilities, Equinox Vancouver’s 33,000 square-foot design includes bleached walnut woods, concrete floors and reflective metallics, juxtaposing manmade and natural materials. A dramatic staircase over a 24′ tall atrium sits at the center of the club, which is punctuated with a lounge and fireplace.

Natural light fills the main fitness floor with expansive training options that include six different studios, including dedicated yoga, cycling, barre, Pilates and boxing studios. Equinox Vancouver also includes cardio and fitness floors where members can work out on their own or with one of Equinox’s highly skilled personal trainers.

“Whether it’s on the trail or in the boardroom, Vancouverites, embrace high performance living, and we are happy to finally be offering a lifestyle club that will help them push boundaries and reach new milestones,” said Liz Jacobs, general manager of Equinox Vancouver.

Known for its innovative signature workouts, Equinox Vancouver is scheduled to launch specialty classes such as Precision Running, a science-fueled treadmill class created by David Siik to strike balance between aerobic and anaerobic interval training; The Pursuit, a competitive cycling class that converts data from your console into real-time virtual games and visual projections in studio; Ropes and Rowers, a calorie-torching cardio workout that mixes water rowers and battle ropes; True Barre, a combination of Pilates-based core work with ballet movements and isometric contractions; and MetCon3, a high-intensity metabolic-conditioning class that draws on the body’s three energy systems.

A complete experience in wellbeing, Equinox amenities include luxurious locker rooms offering Kiehl’s products, steam rooms and sauna, a juice bar, The Shop at Equinox and The Spa at Equinox with services to rejuvenate and pamper the body. For additional information, please visit www.equinox.com.
