Over the past year, the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) continued our rigorous efforts to find effective treatments for ALS. As the most comprehensive research lab in the world dedicated to ALS, our research team is relentlessly working to attack ALS from every angle.

As our team works through the last hours of 2019, I wanted to take the time to reflect on some of the year’s milestones that you helped us achieve. Together, we are getting closer to ending ALS.

  • We now have over 560 people with ALS enrolled in our Precision Medicine Program (PMP).
  • ALS TDI’s PMP launched a new initiative to validate and discover blood-based biomarkers for ALS.
  • ALS TDI scientists began working with zebrafish models as versatile tools for ALS target validation and drug discovery.
  • We are greatly expanding the scale of our drug discovery efforts after acquiring a compound library of 30,000 small molecules, which can be screened rapidly in these ALS-related cells.
  • Through Anelixis Therapeutics, AT-1501—which was discovered at ALS TDI—finished a Phase 1 Clinical Trial.

Over the past few weeks, you may have read an email or letter from David Lloyd Jr, who asked you all to join him in the race to end ALS. With your help, we can continue to drive research forward as we head into 2020. We can’t do any of this without your help.

If you have not already done so, your 100% tax-deductible donation will help to get more potential treatments to people who desperately need them.
