CLAREMONT, CA – For the past 11 years, The Claremont Club has taken a leadership position in the global fitness and wellness industry. The Claremont Club supports the American College of Sports Medicine’s signature initiative called Exercise is Medicine through documentary and testimonials. As an industry leader, The Claremont Club has taken the initiative to help merge the experts in healthcare with the experts in fitness to begin working together, instead of so independently.

The Claremont Club is known for developing new ways to serve its community and for delivering programs to many different populations that really need it, including individuals struggling with chronic illness and chronic injuries, improving their overall health – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

The Club has proven that exercise has had a profound effect on people struggling with Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) and other neuromuscular illnesses, including Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s, Stroke, ALS, PLS, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) through their activity based therapy in Project Walk. The Club has also had tremendous success with their Living Well after Cancer and Pediatric & Young Adult Cancer programs, helping improve the quality of life for over 800 cancer patients and their families. The activity-based programs at the Club have helped lead individuals away from various pills and procedures, while reducing the occurrence of secondary complications and hospital visits. Instead of dividing the fitness industry from that of healthcare, The Claremont Club has a unique approach and a new perspective on combining the two to ensure maximum results, revolutionizing the health and fitness industries.

No matter how healthy or how ill, The Claremont Club is inclusive and reaches out to everyone, bringing people from all different walks of life together. The Claremont Club’s model is a leap of faith, as it not only welcomes individuals struggling with chronic illnesses and chronic injuries with open arms and gives them a home, but gives them hope, acceptance, possibilities and a renewed outlook on life.

The documentary features commentary from an array of individuals including leading physicians, fitness experts, REX (Roundtables for Executives) officials, IHRSA (the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association) executives, and testimonials from Living Well after Cancer participants and Project Walk clients, several who are now employed at the Club. Testimonials from Linda Johnson, John Surina, Jason Smoot and others support the Club’s belief that they have a societal obligation to build and maintain healthy communities.

Exercise is universal, goes beyond age and gender, and should be available to anyone and everyone. The Claremont Club believes that great Clubs should be about health and not just how a person looks.

The Exercise is Medicine initiative is one The Claremont Club hopes to share with health clubs around the world, so that people with these chronic injuries and illnesses will receive the help they so desperately need. The Club believes that it is time for legislative reform to help provide long-term financial aide to people who struggle with these chronic injuries and illnesses.
