SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As part of its overall sustainability campaign, Athletix Product’s parent company Contec, Inc., installed solar panels at one of its plants in September of 2016. Because the manufacturing facility is located in the southeastern United States, the climate is very favorable for capturing light from the sun and converting it to electricity.

Now online, Contec’s Locust Grove facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina has 2,888 solar panels to supply its cleanroom laundry and manufacturing facility with power during the daylight hours.

“These solar panels take a load off of our power company during peak demand time,” says Don Batts, Project Leader. “This initiative also minimizes our impact on the environment by lowering our amount of carbon emissions associated with generating electricity. In the last eight months, we have prevented 1.2 million pounds of C02 from being exhausted into the atmosphere.”

Using renewable energy resources is just one part of Contec’s path to a better, ecologically-responsible future. They recently implemented robust recycling programs at two of their US facilities, targeting cardboard, paper, aluminum and plastic.
