COVINGTON, LA – In April of this year, the Rich Mauti Cancer Fund and Stone Creek Club & Spa celebrated 10 years of partnership. Stone Creek has played host to the well-known Rich Mauti Tennis Classic, the charity organization’s largest annual fundraiser, since 2009. On Friday, October 19th, Stone Creek dedicated a tennis court to the Mauti family and the committee of the Rich Mauti Cancer Fund, in honor of this long-standing partnership and the impact the charity has had on the local community.
Each year the 4-day mixed doubles tennis tournament attracts several hundred players & spectators and raises tens of thousands of dollars towards its mission. The Rich Mauti Cancer Fund is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding in the local community for cancer screenings, education and support to cancer patients.
In 2009, the event was awarded the title of Louisiana Charity Tennis Tournament of the Year by the Louisiana Tennis Association, and in 2011 it received the Louisiana Tennis Tournament of the Year Award. The Rich Mauti Tennis Classic has raised $640,000 in the last decade.
Nancy Mauti emphasizes that the annual tournament is truly a group effort. “We would not have the success of this tournament without our committee of 16 fabulous people and the incredible staff at Stone Creek Club & Spa.”
Stone Creek General Manager Larry Conner is proud of the tournament and its impact on the community. “Part of the mission of Stone Creek is to make a positive difference in our community, and the Mauti Tournament has long-standing track record of helping local families and health care providers in the fight against cancer. We are honored to be aligned with this wonderful charity organization, and we look forward to continuing our partnership for years to come.”
