BOSTON, MA – As soon as the outbreak became apparent, IHRSA began providing the fitness industry, clubs and suppliers, with resources so they could protect their gyms, customers and members from COVID-19.

Following the success of the first webinar in the series to help clubs with their preparedness, IHRSA is now announcing the second webinar, Coronavirus Conversations: Legal FAQs & Staffing Operations.

Date: Wednesday, March 25, at 3 p.m. EDT.

This webinar will be made available as an on-demand video for those who cannot join live.

It will be presented by Adam Sloustcher, Attorney, Fisher & Phillips, LLP, San Diego, CA, and Aaron Moore, Director of Operations, VIDA Fitness, Washington, D.C.

In the second installment of Coronavirus Conversations, we welcome the health and fitness industry to join experienced IHRSA speakers to hear their take on frequently asked legal questions that health clubs and other businesses are facing during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the impacts on operations and staffing.

During the first half of the webinar, Adam Sloustcher, attorney at Fisher & Phillips, LLP, will discuss common questions that club operators are facing related to their legal obligations and protecting their clubs.

Next, Aaron Moore, director of operations at VIDA Fitness, will speak from experience on the practices his company has put in place at their seven locations across the Washington, D.C., area to protect their staff, members, and create a new online experience for members as they workout at home.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify areas where you may need to do further research and consult with your legal team to ensure you’re protecting your business;
  • Learn how to properly pay your staff during the pandemic;
  • Gain insights from the experiences of a club executive;
  • Discover strategies to keep staff members engaged.

In tough times, it’s not only crucial to have a business plan in place to survive, but also knowledge of legal requirements and how it impacts your club.

As a member-owned, not-for-profit trade association, most IHRSA products are released primarily to the IHRSA membership. In an emergency situation like this, the entire fitness industry is one family, so these resources are available for all fitness businesses.

“The health and fitness industry has never backed away from a challenge,” said Joe Moore, IHRSA president and CEO. “IHRSA stands ready to help the industry through this worldwide problem. It’s what associations do. It’s why we exist…”

IHRSA will continue to create resources, collect and share best practices, and answer questions as needed. Please reach out and let us know your questions.
