WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Health & Fitness Association (HFA) announces a special 100th birthday celebration for fitness pioneer Elaine LaLanne after she and her husband, Jack Lalanne, are inducted into the Health & Fitness Hall of Fame on March 15, 2026, in San Diego, in conjunction with The HFA Show 2026. The HFA Hall of Fame is sponsored by The Bay Club Company.

Doors will open for the induction ceremony at 6:30 p.m. and the induction ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. The ceremony will occur at the Omni San Diego Hotel, the evening before The HFA Show 2026, which runs March 16–18 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Immediately after the HFA Hall of Fame ceremony, attendees who purchased tickets to the event will be invited to remain in the same venue for the birthday celebration honoring Elaine, who will turn 100 years old on March 19, 2026, just days after her induction. A group of Elaine’s longtime friends and supporters is anticipated to attend the celebration.

“Elaine LaLanne is a true trailblazer whose influence spans generations,” said Liz Clark, president and CEO of the Health & Fitness Association. “Her lifelong dedication to exercise, nutrition, and helping others live healthier lives has left an indelible mark on our industry. At nearly 100 years young, Elaine is quite simply the most youthful 99-year-old I have ever met, and she personally inspires me—not only to keep moving my body, but to make every moment count. Honoring Elaine while celebrating her 100th birthday is a rare and meaningful moment for the entire health and fitness community.”

Together, Jack and Elaine produced and starred in fitness television programming for more than three decades, helping shape the early fitness media landscape and influence generations of industry leaders.

Their partnership began in 1950 when Elaine effectively launched Jack’s on-air, mass media career. Already a well-known co-host and producer of a popular morning talk show on KGO TV in San Francisco (breaking the “glass ceiling” for female production leaders of the day), Elaine booked Jack to perform push-ups throughout the entire three-hour broadcast.

That appearance led to “The Jack LaLanne Show,” which went on to inspire millions of Americans to embrace exercise and healthy living. Often cited as founders of the modern fitness industry, Jack and Elaine LaLanne educated and motivated millions of people worldwide for more than 75 years about the importance of active, healthy lifestyle choices.

Elaine later became a driving force behind Jack’s career, co-hosting television programs and infomercials, authoring books, and continuing to promote fitness and nutrition long after Jack’s passing in January 2011. Throughout her life, Elaine has remained a passionate advocate for healthy aging. She readily shares her belief that it is never too late to prioritize movement and well-being.

“I am humbled and honored that the HFA is inducting Jack and me in its Hall of Fame,” stated Elaine. “Like the HFA, the LaLanne family believes that ongoing wellness, professional development, and motivating others through personal example are keys to living a long, healthy, happy life. I am so proud the HFA has chosen to recognize those efforts. And as Jack would say, ‘Thank you from the bottom of our athletic hearts!’”

The HFA Hall of Fame honors individuals whose contributions have elevated the industry, set new standards for excellence, and advanced physical and mental health. The ceremony will be held the night before The HFA Show, which is the largest annual conference, trade show and networking event in North America for health and fitness professionals, club operators, and industry leaders from around the world. The event attracts 10,000 attendees from over 80 countries and 400 global exhibitors.

Tickets to the Health & Fitness Hall of Fame induction ceremony are $250 with proceeds benefiting the HFA Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health through exercise.
