650 from 40 Countries Attend IHRSA European Congress

LONDON, ENGLAND and BOSTON, MA – A record-breaking 650 delegates came together in London for the 17th annual IHRSA European Congress, which concluded on October 26. Participants traveled from 40 countries and five continents to network and learn about how new developments in technology are impacting the health and fitness club industry.
“IHRSA is especially grateful to our local host, David Minton, Director of The Leisure Data Base Company, and his staff for helping to make this our most successful Congress ever,” said Joe Moore, President and CEO of IHRSA.
Among the many highlights of the programme were:
- The presentation of the IHRSA European Club Leadership Award to Jon Wright, founder of Xercise4Less in the U.K.
- More than a dozen seminars, including two keynote presentations and a CEO panel discussion about Europe as the “Epicentre of Industry Growth & Innovation.”
- Simultaneous interpretation into six languages and discussion groups by language helped attendees apply what they learned to their businesses.
- A sponsor showcase where club operators could connect one-on-one with leading industry suppliers.
- Walking tours of some of London’s leading health clubs.
- The announcement that the 2018 IHRSA European Congress will be held 15-18 October in Lisbon, Portugal.
