USTA Hires Chief People and Culture Officer, a New Position

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The USTA announces that Henry Lescaille, a multi-talented human resources executive with more than 30 years of experience in the field, has been named the USTA’s Chief People and Culture Officer. The position is newly-created by USTA Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Lew Sherr. Lescaille will be based at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida and will report directly to Sherr.
The Chief People & Culture Officer (CPCO) will serve as the architect of the Association’s culture initiatives and talent strategy, all in support of the mission and values of the USTA. The CPCO will lead the strategy and processes relating to building a culture that facilitates the recruitment, engagement and retention of an exceptional team of staff and volunteers, through the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion and helps inspire those who deliver the sport.
“Our people are our most important resource,” said Sherr. “The USTA, on all levels, needs to invest in its culture to meet the many demands of today’s world. We searched for a dynamic and innovative executive with the experience and comportment to lead our efforts in enhancing our culture, and we found that in Henry.”
Lescaille will be responsible for enhancing the USTA culture at all levels of the Association and that USTA personnel and the Association’s volunteer resources further energizes this overall goal as well as all DE&I efforts. He will design programs to drive cultural awareness and sensitivities to improve employee and volunteer engagement and retention. He also will be tasked with reviewing the USTA’s goals, values and day-to-day practices in order to better align them to create a more dynamic and collaborative organization.
Prior to joining the USTA, Lescaille served as Vice President, People Experience & Strategic Operation for Sony Music for five years. In that role, he provided region-wide HR strategy and execution across employee relations, benefits, talent acquisition, compensation, DE&I and culture for a population of approximately 1000 employees in the United States, Latin America and Iberia (Spain and Portugal). He also served as the HR Committee Chair for the company’s transformation and offshoring initiative that provided Sony with multi-million dollars in arbitrage savings and process efficiencies.
Lescaille spent the lion’s share of his career with Time Warner starting in 1998, ultimately rising to Senior Vice President, HRBP. In that role, he had oversight of the company’s Human Resources organization including staffing, employee relations, compensation and O/D for 2,200 employees. His duties also included talent acquisition, process and systems engineering and culture. While there he was a two-time recipient of TIME Inc. President’s Award – the company’s highest honor for roles in cost savings and diversity initiatives.
Lescaille received his B.B.A. from New York University and his MBA from the University of South Florida. He is married to his wife Sara, and they have two sons, Tyler (21) and Julian (15).
