Columbia Association Recognized As Inaugural Partner in the Better Climate Challenge

COLUMBIA, MD - Columbia Association (CA) has officially joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, committing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% within 10 years. CA was recognized as an inaugural partner during a webinar with Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy. ALS TDI Receives Department of Defense Grant to Accelerate ALS Biomarker Discovery

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) has been awarded a $281,000 grant from the United States Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Mandated Research Program for ALS (ALSRP) to support a new study designed to identify biomarkers for ALS. Leveraging PMP data and cutting-edge technologies, this study represents what may be an unprecedented opportunity in the pursuit of ALS biomarkers. Discovery of biomarkers for ALS has always been a key goal of ALS TDI’s Precision Medicine Program (PMP), and this grant from the ALSRP will allow ALS TDI to significantly expand this effort in 2022. CANADA - With the Federal Government’s announcement of Bill C-2, an Act to provide further support in response to COVID-19, the fitness industry can breathe a sigh of relief. Now, fitness businesses are able to apply for financial support to rebound and rebuild as a part of the program supporting hospitality and tourism. WATERTOWN, MA - Every year, the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) hosts the ALS TDI Summit as a way to update its community on the state of ALS research and drug discovery at ALS TDI. The Summit program included updates about drug discovery research programs in various stages of development at ALS TDI, as well as an extensive update on Project Euphonia, an initiative from Google to develop communication tools for people with conditions that affect their speech like ALS that was launched in collaboration with ALS TDI. AT-1501 (antiCD40L) is an antibody therapeutic with comprehensive and promising preclinical data. It blocks specific immune cell activation and protects nerves against the progression of ALS and Alzheimer's disease. There is no one test that can determine whether someone does or does not have ALS. Many different kinds of testing are often required to rule out the various other diseases that can cause similar symptoms, from cancers to autoimmune disorders to other neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis. The diagnosis process can take months, or even years. However, obtaining a conclusive diagnosis of ALS is crucially important for developing a proper plan for care and treatment.
