Salary and compensation results provided in the report are based on data from more than 300 North American facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo help club operators gauge their own compensation practices, IHRSA has been conducting employee compensation research since 2002,\u201d said Jay Ablondi, IHRSA\u2019s executive vice president of global products. \u201cAlong with salary data for industry-specific job titles, this year\u2019s report also contains pay information for occupations such as marketing director and social media specialist. Last year, Linkedin identified social media intern and digital marketing specialist among the top 10 job titles that didn\u2019t exist ten years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to respondents, club operators paid a social media specialist an average of $19.89 per hour. Marketing directors were paid an average of $65,637 in total annual compensation.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s report includes compensation data on several new job titles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operations manager<\/li>\n<li>Social Media Specialist<\/li>\n<li>Martial arts instructor<\/li>\n<li>Group cycling instructor<\/li>\n<li>Barre instructor<\/li>\n<li>Dietitian<\/li>\n<li>Health &#038; wellness coach<\/li>\n<li>Nutrition coach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cSince the last report, published in 2013, the economy and employment levels have continued to expand, which bodes well for the health club industry,\u201d said Melissa Rodriguez, IHRSA\u2019s senior research manager. \u201cThanks to an improving economy, club operators can consider increasing their budget for payroll by rewarding stellar employees, adding monetary incentives for existing staff, or investing in new employees to assist with delivering in-demand club programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report also provides a brief macroeconomic outlook on compensation and unemployment. According to a separate nationwide WorldatWork Salary Budget Survey, companies offered salary increases of roughly 3% to employees in 2014. In 2015, firms are projecting salary budget increases of 3.1%.<\/p>\n<p>The 2015 IHRSA Health Club Employee Compensation &#038; Benefits Report is based on voluntary survey data provided by IHRSA member clubs in the United States and Canada. The report provides compensation information for senior management\/corporate staff, salaried club-level employees, and hourly club-level employees.
