Yet, by mid-March, the U.S. was in total quarantine, and clubs and fitness centers went into full lockdown. Snap Fitness offered a 28-day challenge in the spring to not only incentivize their members but also bring services to people who were without a gym family altogether.

The “Move with Snap Fitness at Home” Challenge was born as a way to bring a bit of normalcy to an unpredictable world, break up the work-from-home rut and keep physical fitness goals in check.

Snap Fitness members — and non-members — used the app for 28 days and chose their interests, marked their goals and activity levels, and the app would hand-deliver (pun intended) customized workouts and exercises for every day of the week. Specifics from numbers of sets and reps to trainer-led online classes came into people’s homes.

The app didn’t stop there. Snap Fitness offered personalized nutrition education and meal planning each day, which was convenient during the days of nonstop online grocery shopping. Users could swap ingredients, check out a calorie calculator and focus on specific areas of nutrition that needed some work.

Every day, users received mindfulness reminders, which many said meant so much in the middle of a pandemic. The app also featured community forums for checking in with each other and keeping friends accountable. For many, a gym or club is just as much a social need as a physical one, and this was a great way to stay connected with workout friends. One user commented that the app was a “great motivator to keep us all moving and in touch with others working toward a healthier lifestyle.”

And the winner of the Challenge? Let’s just say something “snapped,” as he put it. Tom from Fallston, Maryland, lost almost 30 pounds in 28 days and achieved a weight he hadn’t been at in a decade. Before the Challenge, Tom suffered from atrial fibrillation (AFib), which is an irregular heartbeat that can lead to blood clots, stroke or heart failure. He reported that after the Challenge, he experienced no symptoms. He said the Challenge “truly changed my life!” Additionally, he changed others’ lives.

CHANHASSEN, MN – Snap Fitness has received a 2021 Franchise Innovation Award from Franchise Innovation Media for the company’s “MOVE with Snap Fitness at Home” challenge.
